Arm yourself with the best Apps around!

Here are some really well designed apps for all occasions. These are apps I personally use on a regular basis and can recommend to anyone. Some are freeware, but most will cost you a little. Most of these programs are only a few bucks and well worth the money.

Ad-aware - You need this program period. Spyware is an ever growing problem. Spyware infests your machine through your browser without you knowing it. It consumes bandwidth, reports on where you go on the web, and eats up valuable machine resources. This program finds and crushes spyware. It comes in versions that range from free to about 50 bucks.

Download Accelerator Plus - Key features of Download Accelerator Plus it's ability to accelerate downloading files in FTP and HTTP protocols up to 300%, pause and resume downloads, and recovering from a dropped Internet connection. The acceleration is done by using more than one connection for the same file, for single or multiple servers. In Addition Download Accelerator Plus will also make a mirror search for downloading from best performance servers. "Adware" program meaning that is shows an ad while you are downloading and is otherwise free.

Edit Plus - Syntax highlighting, loads as fast as notepad, allows keyboard shortcut configuration, edits large files, has a nice top margin display, good info in the status bar, all the other standard features of a great editor. Costs $30 bucks, but $30 bucks well spent in my opinion. Try it out and see if you like it.

Google Toolbar - Not only does it add a quick search area (press Alt-G and you are searching) , but it has an Auto-Fill capability and best of all you will be able to browse the web without being molested by those annoying ads that popup when you visit some web sites.

IrfranView - First, it is freeware for non-commercial use. Second, this program converts between image types. Third, it is has a very small footprint. Finally, it loads super fast. The perfect app?

Jetico BestCrypt - This wonderful program allows you to create a virtual drive that is really an encrypted file. Store all your personal stuff in one safe secure spot. Read my review for more information.

Teleport Pro - This program will allow you to download an entire web site. Has a ton of features for web file finding and other stuff. I use it to get graphics off of pages so I may add them to my own. Registration for this application is $39.95. Only worth the buy for the serious web author and people like me who are not original artists.

Window's Commander - Remember the old Norton Commander for DOS? This is the same utility for Windows! If you have no idea what I am talking about, try it anyway. It is a Windows Explorer replacement with built in Zip (and just about every other compression type) compression capability, file management, FTP, and has TWO panes. I use this program religiously (as in it is ALWAYS running on my computer) and it runs about $36.
